My most sustainable styles

My most sustainable styles include zero-waste, sustainable fabrications, and the best of two worlds.
Are you wondering what my most sustainable styles are? All of the styles are designed with sustainability in mind, so when you decide to get one you can be sure they are sustainable, but this guide will help you make the right choice.

 BEST OF ZERO WASTE

The square vest is a one-size masterpiece if I may say myself. The vest is created by placing trim to form it around the body. The piece was one of the first five zero-waste creations that I did. Make sure to check it out here.
I created the tube skirt but pushed all limits of traditional patterns. The piece was created by measuring and sewing one strip of fabric into a tube. I carefully fit the dress by putting it onto the body. See more here.

The tube dress was the first piece in the series that I created, and it was also the hardest one as I had to figure out the exit points for the arms. It was a long process but the result turned out better than I could have imagined. To finish it off I added a high-end french seam and a hand-cut bike tube trim to saturate the beautiful cut. See more about the dress here.

 BEST OF TWO WORLDS

grey organic cotton dress made in the usa
The Zero Tie dress is one of my newest zero-waste dresses. I played with rectangles that maximized the fabric width to create close to zero waste. I wanted a structured and playful look with more than one way to wear it, so I constructed the dress with a tie. The tie can be worn around the waist tied front or back. For a looser fit tie the strap around your neck. See more details here.
faux leather clutch
Nothing gets more sustainable than this faux leather clutch. I created the clutch with old bike tubes that were cleaned and sewed together. The pattern is one continuous line that was folded to create two pockets inside and a front closure. Finished off with art from Tato an artist from New York. We only have one bag left, so if you want it you have to act now.

organic cotton cardigan
I never get tired of color blocking monochrome-colors to give it a bit more spice. The design hugs you with a warm & soft organic cotton fleece. The design combination of 100% organic cotton, a pocket made from up-cycled bike-tube, and the cut of the fabric makes this almost unbeatable in both the zero-waste, and the fabric category. Find it here
zero-waste garment made in the usa
The zero-vest is the foundation of my company and how I got started with the zero-waste concept. The fabric is engineered by strategically placing snaps to shape the fabric around the body wasting close to no fabric in the process.
The garment hugs the body in all the right places and transforms your look in one step. This particular garment is made from 100% linen fabric sustainably sourced in Europe.
summer jacket made in the usa
Last but not least the Swatch jacket is the last of its kind as my company is growing and I am not able to continue the long process this garment requires. Each and every piece is one-of-a-kind because it's made from fabric scraps from past collections. A true zero-waste piece both from material used and the pattern. Find it here.
I hope this guide helps you in your quest in finding the piece that you are looking for. Always feel free to reach out info@malaikanewyork.com if you have any questions or just want to chat. 🤗
