Why I became a Zero Waste Designer

Why I became a Zero Waste Designer

Posted by Malaika Haaning on

Hi guys, Happy Monday!
Did you know why I wanted to go into zero waste fashion when starting my company back in 2016? I did it because of the obvious reasons such as climate change of cause but also because I was lucky to be introduced to a new way of creating garments in a class while attending Parsons and I want to thank my teacher Larisa Losilevich. In a lesson she challenged us to create a garment from a piece of fabric. We weren't allowed to sew and only to cut as little as possible. I had an aha moment. Why would you waste fabric if you didn't have too? To this very moment my company embraces the one lesson that she taught me and I will forever be grateful.
